To God
Václav Stratil
Václav Stratil (V) & Eva Machová (E): A short unprepared interview in Lubná on the terrace at five o’clock
E: Václav, why is the exhibition called To God?
V: So, I talk to God every day, so I wanted to dedicate it to him, just because I love him.
E: What did you think about when you were creating the exhibition in the Ark?
V: I was looking for a balance between space and things I was looking for something that would make the stability uncertain.
E: The stability of faith in God or the stability of space?
V: Come up with what you want.
V: I haven’t seen Příhoda (Jíří Příhoda–the author of the Ark) for several decades, but he has gained a bit.
E: Do you fart?
V: Silence means agreement.
E: Do you fart even when you create?
V: No.
E: When people come to your exhibition, what do you want them to take?
V: Taste. Want to do something. And the courage to do something.
E: Why do you use a spray in your work?
V: Because it’s a most distinctive pencil.
E: But the inscription “God is a good mood” is thin.
V: Because I thought there was nothing left in the can.
E: What would you do if you had been locked up in the Ark for months or years?
V: With a proper car. So, I would watch it. That’s a freestyle too.
E: What does it mean for you when you draw or paint a swastika?
V: First, I examine what the symbol can carry. Secondly, I like the shape. Third, I love Adolf Hitler, and I’ve been him in a past life. And because I did so many pranks, I had to be reborn to be nice.
E: When did you realize that you’ve been Adolf Hitler?
V: When I united with him and he went to heaven.
V: Our society is in pretty much trouble. There is such a trend that there is only a city, everyone wants to go to the city, that there is an only career, there is something happening and there is money. I like it here, in the village, because it’s so spiritual here.
